Explore the Amarillo Depot

Four distinct experiences under one roof — a railroad museum, a boutique hotel in vintage railcars, an art gallery celebrating Santa Fe Railway design, and an outdoor performance venue. Together, they're transforming a historic landmark into Amarillo's newest cultural destination.

The Anchor Experience

Santa Fe Historical Railway Museum

Step inside the beautifully restored 1910 Santa Fe Depot and discover the story of how railroads built the Texas Panhandle. From the Harvey House dining room to hands-on exhibits and the legendary Madam Queen locomotive, the museum brings a century of railroad history to life for visitors of all ages.

The museum's education program will connect students across the Panhandle with real rail travel experiences — combining classroom learning with the thrill of boarding a train.

Stay the Night

The Rail Car Inn

Sleep where the rails meet the stars. The Rail Car Inn will transform a line of vintage railcars into a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel — each car uniquely themed and restored, stretching along the original tracks adjacent to the Depot.

With a main building, marquee entrance, and views of passing BNSF freight trains, it's an experience you won't find anywhere else in the Texas Panhandle.

See & Create

The Art & Design of Santa Fe

The Santa Fe Railway was renowned for its commitment to art and design — from the architecture of its depots to the china in its dining cars. This gallery space, housed in the former postal sorting facility on the south side of the Depot, carries that tradition forward.

Rotating exhibitions will showcase exceptional industrial design and artwork alongside the work of talented local artists, adding depth and creativity to the Depot's STEAM education programs.

Gather & Celebrate

Roundhouse Theater

An outdoor performance and event venue built into the Depot campus — featuring a covered stage, brick-paved plaza, and a large pavilion for community gatherings, concerts, markets, and festivals.

With adjacent green space, a water feature, and public amenities, the Roundhouse Theater transforms the Depot grounds into a year-round destination for Amarillo's cultural life.
